Security - Intelligence - Risk
Operational and Administrative Support and
Investigative Services (OASIS) Portfolio

OASIS OVERVIEW

Many times, you simply need some straight-forward security services or an extra hand in your own security and risk-mitigation processes at the operations and administrative level.

At Sentinel House, we keenly understand the differences between strategic planning and real-time operational and administrative support, which we sometimes hear described as the difference between analysis and getting the job done "in the trenches". As effectively as our CATS portfolio addresses strategic concerns, our OASIS portfolio addresses the related security and risk mitigation needs in the operational and administrative parts of your organization.

Frequently, you might require shorter, one-time, or immediate services. Our OASIS portfolio is directed towards addressing those needs that require expertise that you don't normally hold in-house or isn't available to you at the time you need them. These are services normally directed to operational policy, standard, or procedural matters that require quality expertise to forge a strong link in your chain of compliance activities.

Administrative Investigations

For qualified clients, we offer administrative investigations, which are formal and regulated activities to discover the facts around security incidents. Conducting these investigations is often required by various compliance regimes and is a necessary and desirable process in the responsible governance of any organization.

Please note that, in the Government of Canada, these are required by the Policy on Government Security (PGS), Directive on Departmental Security Management (DSM), which states that:

  1. Investigations are conducted in a manner that does not jeopardize or compromise evidence, the rights of individuals, or civil or criminal proceedings.
  2. The conditions under which each administrative investigation will be conducted are established as are procedures for conducting each investigation.
  3. Incidents suspected of constituting criminal offences are reported to the appropriate law enforcement authority, and that there are established protocols to ensure communication with law enforcement and other state agencies.
  4. Parties involved in the investigation are appropriately informed of their rights and obligations.

Sentinel House investigative services are legally-based, analytical processes designed to gather relevant information in order to discover the facts surrounding an event or situation, determine whether wrongdoing has occurred and, if so, the proper identity of any people or entities responsible.

As with all services in our OASIS portfolio, our administrative investigations are sought after because we:

  1. Act with integrity, fairness, and discretion in the planning and conduct of all investigations
  2. Act as a deterrence against possible bias, subjectivity, or impropriety
  3. Commit to neutrality and the discovery of all reasonably available facts, and
  4. Establish and guarantee an impartial and objective commitment to investigative accountability
